For the Antech Academy of Veterinary Imaging website, we built a completely custom Shopify theme from the ground up. No Shopify Dawn theme, no purchased template, no page builder.
The Academy doesn't sell products in the usual sense. It sells seats at veterinary events on specific dates, with prerequisites and CE credits attached. Each course date was set up as its own Shopify product, extended with custom metafields for dates, venue, and credits, with locations built as metaobjects. On top of that, we wrote a filterable course finder, a registration form with conditional validation, and a private Shopify app that creates the customer record and draft order directly in the admin.
The Academy handles its own weekly updates in Shopify, including new courses, pricing, instructor bios, orders, and registrations, without relying on a developer.
